Well, if someone in my neighborhood had a video camera, I probably could have won some money. Picture my car & my cat tree. I could have waited until next week to have either dad’s truck or mom’s SUV, but no, I had to bring it over today by myself. When I realized that I could lift it to carry it out to the car and once I had already carried it out there, there was no stopping me. First, I thought that I could just put the back seat up and shove it in the back. Well, once lifting it up & shoving the front part into the back of the car, I realized that I was never going to get the base in under the window. So, being embarrased about playing around with it in the parking lot already, I thought I’d try my luck at shoving it in the back seat. So, I go to the passenger side & pull up the seat & try to shove it in that way. Well, the base wouldn’t fit in that way, either. So, I thought, why not put the base in first. Didn’t work that way, either. So I put it beside the car and just looked at it and looked at the car, not wanting to admit defeat. Aha!, I thought. I’ll just pull the top back & sit it on the front seat – sounds easy, right? Well, I was trying to shove the top in again, but couldn’t lift it high enough without getting the top stuck to clear the base on the seat. So, I tried spinning it around so that the high part was in the front closest to the front window. In the process, I had ended up getting it in the car & successfully laid it flat on the front seat – exactly what I had tried doing in the back seat. This left no room for me, the driver. At least it was fully in the car – first step complete. So, all I had to do now was pick it straight up & seat buckle it in. In the process of spinning it again & pulling on it to pick it up, I noticed that it was getting stuck on the emergency brake. No problem, I thought, because it was still in gear – or so I thought. Guess what, it wasn’t in gear. So now, I have it lifted halfway up & the car is now out of gear with the emergency break released. Oh crap!!!! The car is now drifting backwards (because my parking spot is on an upward slope) and I am trying to find my way around the tree to get to the brake. I finally managed to get there & the tree upright in a couple of quick steps – but holy cow!!! Thankfully & unbelievably, the car really only drifted to the end of my parking space, but it felt like I would be all the way across the road. And, of course, on the drive over, I thought of several other reasonalby easy options of what I COULD have done, causing a lot less embarrassment & issues. At least it is now moved, safe & sound, with it’s rightful owner. She better be spending LOTS of time on top of it for that!
